How to make informed decisions when data is lacking? Haiti has not conducted a census since 2003 and must rely on projections. It is from this observation that SIPDEC (Statistics and Information for Decision Making) organized the second edition of its annual conference, at the Villa Thérése hotel, from October 16 to 18, 2026, aimed at enhancing data in Haiti, dedicated this year to local authorities.
Public and private institutions, practitioners, researchers, and academics gathered around the theme: "From Data to Decision: How to Strengthen Local Authorities to Accelerate Local Development?" "You cannot make decisions without data," summarizes Joseph Marcus, coordinator of the SIPDEC Sectoral Dynamization group. For him, the ultimate goal of the meeting is to enhance the value of data, organized around World Statistics Day, on October 20.
