While she was in the running for the "New Directors" category at the 62nd edition of the Chicago International Film Festival, taking place this year from October 14 to 25, the Haitian director has once again distinguished herself by winning the "Hugo d'Or" for her latest film, Marie Madeleine. The announcement was made on Friday, October 23, 2026, by Cinema/Chicago, the nonprofit organization that organizes this event, now regarded as the oldest international film festival in North America.
This new award, a first for a Black and Caribbean female director, adds to the accolades of this 104-minute feature film, which has notably excelled by winning the "Grand Jury Prize" at the Cabourg Film Festival and the "Best Film" award at the Villa Medici Festival in Rome.
