Combite pour la paix et le développement (CPD) organized an information workshop on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the Montana Hotel, focusing on the recommendations addressed to Haiti by the United Nations Human Rights Committee following its 4,256th session held in July 2025 in Geneva. This event gathered more than twenty civil society organizations to raise awareness about their role in monitoring the implementation of these recommendations by the Haitian state.
According to CPD Executive Director Fritznel Pierre, this workshop aims to encourage civil society organizations to monitor the measures taken by Haitian authorities in response to the Committee's recommendations. “Civil society organizations have the responsibility to check whether the public policies of the various ministries take these recommendations into account. They must also assess Haiti's situation by 2028, as a mid-term report must be submitted to the Committee,” explained Fritznel Pierre. He added that if the recommendations are not respected, organizations should inform the Committee.
