Richard Widmaier reflected on the beginnings of Radio Métropole, founded on March 8, 1970, by his father, Herby Widmaier, and on the innovations that helped shape the identity of this station. For Richard Widmaier, the birth of the station represented above all the fulfillment of a family dream, driven by his father's desire to create his own radio.
“The beginning of Radio Métropole, on March 8, 1970, was a dream finally fulfilled for us, of what my father has always wanted to do,” said the general director. He presented the creation of the station as a personal victory for Herby Widmaier, after an experience that had ended poorly at Radio Haïti/HH3W. According to Richard Widmaier, the conflicts between his father and Jean Dominique led the latter to resign from Radio Haïti, thus ending several years of collaboration.
