A mourning ceremony was organized as a tribute to President Jovenel Moïse in the gardens of the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH) on Friday, July 7, 2023. The day was officially declared a "day of mourning" throughout the national territory. President Moïse, who was assassinated in his private residence by an armed commando on the night of July 6 to 7, 2021, was honored with a solemn ceremony, presided over by Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

The event saw the participation of members from the High Command of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAD'H), the National Police of Haiti (HNP), the diplomatic corps, and the ministerial cabinet. The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem of Haiti by the brass band of the National Palace. Prime Minister Ariel Henry, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Communication, and Justice, Emmelie Prophète, laid a wreath of flowers on the altar specially erected for this occasion.
