While all eyes, especially those of the government, are turned towards the United Nations for the deployment of a foreign military force to counter the rise of armed gangs in Haiti, the Haitian Armed Forces are struggling to find their role in the discussions. The Prime Minister's visit to the army base in Clercine on March 17th, along with his promises, failed to make the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) a significant part of the solution in the fight against insecurity.

In an interview with Le Nouvelliste on August 1st, 2022, the Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian Armed Forces revealed that the FAd’H counted a thousand men and women in their ranks. On Thursday, December 22nd of the same year, 409 new soldiers took an oath and joined the FAd’H. Today, the FADH has an approximate total of 1500 men and women, according to statistics disclosed by the Commander-in-Chief during the security conference organized by the Quisqueya University recently.
