Prime Minister Ariel Henry discussed the year-on-year revenue growth of 56% as of June 30, 2023, the reduction in expenses and subsidies, and the decrease in funding for the BRH (Bank of the Republic of Haiti), which went from 31.9 billion gourdes on June 30, 2022, to 8.3 billion gourdes on June 30, 2023, marking a decline of 74%. This information is outlined in the framing letter of the "2023-2024 budget project" dated August 2, 2023.
"At the level of Public Finances, significant efforts have been made within the revenue-generating agencies, particularly at the General Administration of Customs (AGD). Indeed, the implementation of directives concerning the fight against corruption and arms trafficking has resulted in strengthened monitoring and control mechanisms for imports. While current revenues as of June 30, 2023, exhibited a year-on-year growth of 56%, customs revenues, including petroleum revenues, accelerated even further. On the side of public expenditures, there is a slight decrease compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. From October 2022 to June 2023, public expenditures decreased by 6% year-on-year," according to this framing letter.
