With successive waves of kidnappings targeting healthcare professionals, the Haitian Medical Association has held several press conferences to deplore the situation and draw attention to its immediate consequence: the exodus of the most qualified doctors.

"We can't even organize a meeting. Everything is done online. The AMH is turning 75, and we can't plan anything to celebrate this date. Whenever we think of a doctor to be part of a committee within the AMH, we find out that they are no longer in Haiti. The majority of doctors are not in Haiti," lamented Dr. Jean Ardouin Louis-Charles, the Secretary-General of the Haitian Medical Association, on Magik 9 earlier this year.
