Frantz Elbé, the Director-General of the Haitian National Police (HNP), visited Kenya this week. The Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian police led a high-level mission involving police and justice officials to this East African country, as a prelude to the potential deployment of a multinational security support mission in Haiti. Elbé is accompanied by Frédéric Leconte, head of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ), and Paul Eronce Villard, chief of staff to the Minister of Justice and Public Security.

This visit comes as Kenyan authorities prepare to deploy 1,000 officers to Haiti. On Thursday, December 14, Frantz Elbé met with the Kenyan police chief, Japhet Koome. "Elbé is on a three-day official visit to Kenya for bilateral discussions on security between the two law enforcement agencies," reads a statement from Koome's office without providing further details.
