On Friday, January 19, while they were on a bus, six nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne, along with other occupants of the vehicle, were kidnapped in Port-au-Prince.

In a statement, the office of the Haitian Conference of Religious Brothers and Sisters (CHR) expressed deep emotion upon learning the sad news of the abduction of six nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne, along with others on the bus. "These all-too-frequent abductions fill the consecrated ones of Haiti and the souls of goodwill with sadness and dread," denounced the CHR.
