Mountains of garbage can be seen in various locations across the metropolitan area, with no intervention from municipal authorities to collect these accumulating wastes. In Pétion-Ville, garbage is highly visible in the streets, obstructing vehicle passage in some areas. Contacted on this matter, Peterson Lucard, assistant chief of sanitation services at the Pétion-Ville town hall, cited a problem with disposal sites for the waste.

"We are facing a space issue for waste disposal. The various locations where we used to dump garbage, including Pèlerin, Cité Soleil, Eddy one, and downtown, are occupied by criminals. Laboule was our only option, but it is currently inaccessible due to the thugs who have been terrorizing the area for several days," he explained.
