The La Paix University Hospital, one of the few public hospitals in operation in the metropolitan area, has been heavily relied upon since the beginning of the crisis. According to statistics provided by its management to the newspaper, from February 29 to April 9, 194 gunshot victims were admitted to this hospital. Six of these patients have died, clarified Dr. Paul Junior Fontilus. "With the HUEH, we are the two university hospitals in the metropolitan area. The dysfunction of the UEH is killing us. We are very much in demand right now," described Dr. Paul Junior Fontilus, head of La Paix Hospital.

In addition, Dr. Fontilus discussed the challenges faced by the hospital in providing care to patients in the context of the humanitarian crisis gripping the capital. "We have difficulty finding fuel and oxygen to administer care to our patients. Some partners are helping us to stay afloat, but I don't know for how long," he said with concern.
