The United States, through the State Department, welcomes the publication of the decree establishing the Presidential Council. A statement to this effect was issued on the evening of Friday, April 12, by the spokesperson for the American diplomacy, Matthew Miller.

In this statement, the Stars and Stripes expressed satisfaction with the establishment today of a Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) in Haiti.
