Few public or private institutions are able to withstand the assaults of gangs in downtown Port-au-Prince. In this part of the country, only the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) remains open, offering minimal services. From Rue de la Réunion to the Champ de Mars area, only the institutions occupied by law enforcement officers are holding out. Insecurity is driving government offices away, depriving citizens of essential services.

The State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH), the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Court of Cassation, the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSC/CA), the National Theater, the Ministry of Communication, the National Public Procurement Commission (CNMP), the National Library, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Rural Development (MARNDR) are among the public administration institutions forced to close their doors.
