Port-au-Prince port facilities are cautiously resuming maritime traffic after several weeks of near dysfunction due to the actions of criminal groups. This information was shared by Jocelin Villier, Director of the National Port Authority (APN), in an interview with Le Nouvelliste on May 22. According to him, this resurgence of activity is due to the improved security conditions around the ports.

"There is much more security in our port facilities. There are certainly minor incidents at times, but these do not affect the increase in traffic we have been experiencing for the past few weeks. Insurance companies and shipping lines remain cautious, but there is a glimmer of hope with the prospect of the MSSM deployment. We are increasing security in the port basin to reassure the community," Mr. Villier stated.
