Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Blas Nuñez-Neto addressed the press virtually on Thursday afternoon to provide an update on some "decisive measures" taken by the Biden administration this week. According to the senior U.S. official, these measures were designed to enhance the security of the U.S. borders and reduce illegal migration by suspending entry of individuals at the southern border of the United States.
"The measures we began implementing yesterday [Wednesday] include record deployments of personnel, infrastructure, and technology at the border," Blas Nuñez-Neto announced, stating that the current administration intends to build upon measures taken over the past three years to reduce migration and bolster border security.
