The sun continued its ascent toward its zenith when heavily armed bandits—affiliates of the Gran Ravin gang—once again unleashed hellfire on Gressier, at the outskirts of the Palmes region, on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Their primary target, the town's police station, came under attack around 10:30 AM.

"According to our information, they numbered around 200 men, some armed with AK-47s. We saw one of them with a .50 caliber M-82. Divided into small groups, they are well supplied with ammunition. The SWAT officers stationed at the police station resisted. Around 2 PM, facing dwindling ammunition, these officers executed a tactical repositioning," a police officer told Le Nouvelliste, describing the urban guerrilla tactics used by these enraged bandits, who had posted on social media about seizing the police station on Sunday, June 30. They are mobile, move in small groups, and blocked access to the police station with vehicles placed in the middle of the road, the officer continued.
