Named in the Anti-Corruption Unit's investigation report for their involvement in the BNC scandal, presidential advisors Louis Gérald Gilles and Emmanuel Vertilaire told Le Nouvelliste that they have no intention of resigning. They shared their views with the newspaper over the phone on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

In its report on the alleged misuse of 100 million gourdes at the BNC, the ULCC asserts that advisors Louis Gérald Gilles, Emmanuel Vertilaire, and Smith Augustin should be prosecuted for abuse of office, bribery, and passive corruption. When asked by Le Nouvelliste about the document, Mr. Gilles remarked, “I would like to congratulate the director of the ULCC for this administrative report, as it is, in fact, empty.”
