John Henrick Dessources, a native of the Northern Department and an alumnus of Haiti’s State University, has taken over as Minister of Tourism, headquartered in Champ de Mars. He succeeds James Monazard, under whom he previously served as Chief of Staff. In an interview with Le Nouvelliste, Minister Dessources outlined his vision, emphasizing cultural tourism as a flagship attraction and eco-tourism as a complementary offering.
With over 15 years of experience in planning, including eight years in public administration, Dessources aims to reshape Haiti’s narrative on the global stage. He holds a degree in social communication from the Faculty of Human Sciences (FASCH) at Haiti’s State University, where he studied from March 2005 to July 2009. During his visit to Le Nouvelliste on November 26, 2024, Dessources pledged to leverage information and communication technologies to shift international perceptions of Haiti beyond its struggles.
