The cooperation between Haiti and Mexico is historical. This was affirmed by the representative of Mexico in Haiti, Jesús Cisneros, during an interview given to Le Nouvelliste on Wednesday, December 11, at his residence. According to the diplomat, his country has aligned itself with the priorities defined by Haitian authorities, within the limits of its means. Security and the organization of elections are at the top of the list.

Regarding security, Mexico assists the Haitian Armed Forces (FADH). This aid mainly involves the training of military personnel. According to Ambassador Cisneros, Mexico was the first country to support Haiti's army. “We quickly understood that it was important to support the building of the Haitian Armed Forces. We have contributed to the training of over 700 soldiers. They are trained in drone operations, special operations, humanitarian law, and administration. We are in talks with the Ministry of Defense about other training programs in 2025. We hope that over 100 soldiers will be trained in Mexico,” Jesús Cisneros detailed.
