The indiscriminate violence of the gangs grouped under the "Viv ansanm" coalition has just crossed another threshold. Le Nouvelliste has learned that the criminals set fire to the Bernard Mevs Hospital, a renowned medical center, created through private investment but offering care to everyone, without distinction. The news was confirmed to the newspaper's editorial team on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

"We are devastated. Beyond more than 30 years of work and dedication to the medical sector, it is an entire symbol that went up in flames on the evening of Monday, December 16. The Haitian medical university sector is on its knees because this hospital hosted students from all the medical schools in the country," lamented a source to Le Nouvelliste.
