For a month, the Presidential Council and the Prime Minister’s Office had not managed to organize a Council of Ministers meeting to “administer and lead” the country. While the two branches of the executive had been communicating, they had not taken any formal or legal decision until April 7. “There was a Council of Ministers this Monday solely to adopt the order renewing the state of emergency,” a CPT member told Le Nouvelliste by phone after the meeting.
He told the newspaper that there will be another Council of Ministers meeting on Friday, “during which we will adopt a decree to replace the order on the state of emergency. In this decree, the state of emergency will be for three renewable months. It will also modify certain provisions of the initial order.” The source did not specify what new provisions would be included in the decree.
