While Dominican authorities intensify waves of deportations, often violating the rights of Haitian nationals, the Haitian government has announced the repatriation "under dignified conditions of compatriots in an irregular migration situation who have expressed the desire to return to the country." Twenty-four hours after the CPT condemned the mistreatment suffered by Haitian nationals, the Dominican ambassador to Haiti was summoned to the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For a long time, Haitian authorities turned a blind eye to the waves of deportations under inhumane conditions faced by Haitians in the Dominican Republic. According to accounts shared with Le Nouvelliste by compatriots on the other side of the island, Dominican immigration agents regularly raid private residences and anywhere they believe Haitians may be located. This week, the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) issued a statement condemning "in the strongest possible terms all forms of discrimination and any violation of the fundamental rights suffered by our Haitian compatriots living in the Dominican Republic."
