Journalist Matiado Vilmé, a contributor to VOA Kreyòl, is currently facing a medical emergency. For nearly two years, she has been undergoing treatment for colon cancer. In July 2024, she underwent surgery, which brought temporary improvement.

Despite completing the 18 prescribed chemotherapy sessions, new tests reveal that the disease may have spread to her bones. The medical team is now recommending a specialized radiotherapy treatment. Matiado Vilmé shared with the newspaper a document confirming the urgent need for radiotherapy. Unfortunately, this treatment cannot be performed in Haiti due to the lack of necessary equipment.
