Former Nippes senator Nenel Cassy was taken into custody between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Pétion-Ville by agents of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ). The information was confirmed to Le Nouvelliste by Haitian National Police (PNH) spokesperson Michel Ange Louis Jeune. “I confirm that he was arrested near a restaurant in Pétion-Ville. I cannot provide further details at this time. I’m heading to the DCPJ to inquire,” the spokesperson told Le Nouvelliste.

On February 18, 2025, the DCPJ had issued wanted notices for several individuals, including former parliamentarians Nenel Cassy and Alfredo Antoine. Others on the list included Rivinlus Guyto, Geffrard Nicolas, Arissaint Elorge, Bastien Roberson, Derno Luckner, among others. According to a press and public relations note released at the time, the charges against them included conspiracy against the internal security of the State, financing criminal organizations, complicity in murder, and criminal association.
