The artist dreams of a museum space where the great achievements of national music would be preserved, beyond compas direct alone. “A solid partnership is needed, with major investments, but also equipment. But the will is there,” explained the artist, who was participating in the program Panel Magik on Sunday, August 24. Mario De Volcy emphasized that he himself has collected significant documentation: photos, archives, scores, and memorabilia. “When I speak on a subject, I can provide twenty documents to support it. I have always made the effort to gather and preserve, so that those who appear in the field of music can continue to exist.”
Mario De Volcy says he did everything he could to maintain his store Triomph Muzik. According to him, this place has the value of a museum, but also of a temple, a péristyle, or even a gathering place. “The Triomph is not only compas direct, it is all of Haitian music. We must pay tribute to those who are never mentioned. Who remembers Occide Jeanty or the one who composed the national anthem?” he asked.
