The United States continues to push for the deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (FRG) in Haiti. After advocating for a vote at the UN Security Council to authorize the creation of the force, the U.S. has now begun delivering equipment on the ground in Port-au-Prince. Twenty armored vehicles were supplied to the FRG this week, according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy.
“This week, the United States, through @StateINL, delivered 20 new armored vehicles to the Gang Suppression Force (FRG) in Haiti. These vehicles will strengthen the capacity of the FRG and the Haitian National Police (PNH) to combat the criminal gangs that terrorize the Haitian people and reaffirm the United States’ commitment to security in Haiti,” reads a post from the U.S. Embassy in Haiti on social media.
