The award ceremony took place during an event organized on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Maison de l’Amérique latine in Paris. This prize pays tribute to Mr. Tardieu for his fight for the restoration of peace and democratic institutions in Haiti, his work on constitutional matters, among other contributions.
During this ceremony, which was attended by figures from the political and academic spheres, LATFRAN’s president, Pascal Drouhaud, praised Mr. Tardieu’s commitment to training new generations in Haiti and his efforts, as a parliamentarian, toward constitutional reform. This prize, awarded on the eve of an election year, Mr. Drouhaud stated, aims to encourage the former Pétion-Ville deputy in his engagement and his battles. “You are fighting against the oppression suffered by your people […]. Haiti is a nation destined to be free, and this is why we are proud tonight to distinguish you, in order to encourage you in this struggle, this determination to break the cycle of violence and the determinism of shame that you are trying to confront,” affirmed Pascal Drouhaud.
