Le Nouvelliste learned of the death of Monique Souvenir, known as Fanny, on July 21, 2026. One of Haiti’s very first radio stars following the advent of the transistor radio, she hosted health education programs for years on radio and later on television. An actress and advertising professional, she was trained in Canada, where she earned a master’s degree in communication. Alongside Ti Djo and, later, Konpè Champa, Fanny left her mark on Haiti’s media landscape before retiring to Florida, where she died at the age of 85. We are sharing the statement issued by her family.
It is with profound sorrow that the Souvenir family announces the death of Monique Souvenir, known and loved by several generations of Haitians as “Fanny.” At the time of her death, which occurred peacefully this morning in Florida, the dearly departed was surrounded by the affection of her loved ones.
