Haiti can export its products to the United Kingdom duty-free thanks to the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), a trade program aimed at 65 countries, including the least developed countries as well as some low- or middle-income nations, which came into effect in June 2023, Le Nouvelliste learned from Haiti's ambassador to London, Anaïse Manuel.
Haiti enjoys the most favorable level of preferences: duty-free access on 99.8% of British tariff lines, provided the program's rules are adhered to. The rules of origin are more flexible. A product does not necessarily have to be made solely with Haitian raw materials. Thanks to cumulation, certain materials originating from partner countries can be considered as Haitian in the calculations of origin, provided they comply with the rules and are sufficiently processed in Haiti, Le Nouvelliste learned from Haitian diplomacy.
