According to Diego Da Rin, securing electoral operations is not a central objective of the mission. However, he indicated that the GSF's mandate envisages “creating a security environment that allows the Haitian authorities to move forward with broader stabilization that goes beyond simply restoring security.” He suggested that this environment should eventually lead to the organization of elections.
