At 6:15 pm, almost all of the bright red chairs in the room are occupied. A cheerful and knowledgeable audience, but above all, fans of Tabou Combo, are present for what promises to be a memorable evening. The DJ who is animating the first part of the show plays compas and Antillean hits to warm up the crowd. The audience is already won over when, after the intermission, the men of Tabou Combo, dressed in all white and without any unnecessary palaver, take the stage to launch the concert. At exactly 7 pm, the Casino de Paris lights up, and the audience rises to salute not only the legendary group, but also the eternal star singer, Shoubou. Despite his age and illness, he remains the same. "I'm still as handsome, aren't I?" he asks the audience, who respond with affection. His radiant face is fresh and rested, and Shoubou is happy to be reunited with his fans. And they feel the same way.
"Bese Ba" is the first song that launches the celebration. This hit from the 70s hasn't aged a bit, just like the group. The ban dèyè is still solid, and even with two new singers, the communion on stage between these professional musicians is perfect. The other pillar of Tabou Combo, Fanfan Ti Bòt, is everywhere, sometimes at the front, at the back in front of the bassist, alongside Garry Josama or Ralph Condé, exchanging winks with Kapi, the singer with the hoarse voice who is also the center of attention. He wears his age like a subtle perfume. His energy and lively dance moves make him the true showman of the group.
