On Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, a rare event occurred in Haiti. Edwine Tonton, the Director of the Social Assistance Fund, was arrested and detained for corruption on the order of Judge Jean Wilner Morin. Judge Morin also issued travel bans against other high-ranking government officials. Since then, Judge Morin has become a favorite of internet users for his bravery. The public hopes that other delicate cases involving politically and economically powerful men will be entrusted to him.

The public's reaction to Judge Wilner Morin's decisions reflects a thirst for justice in the face of all kinds of scandals that are tarnishing both public and private administrations in Haiti. Since the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) began making its reports public, the country officially knows that the management of our public funds is not always sound.
