Published in the second quater of 2022, under the label of the Grahn-Monde International Press (PIGM), "The Haitian Legal Framework for Environmental Management and Protection" is regarded by most observers as a reference tool in environmental law. This 201-page book, divided into 12 parts, was written by Mr. Maismy-Mary Fleurant, holder of a doctorate in law from the State University of Haiti. It examines the legal framework related to Haitian environmental protection while also highlighting the critical state of the environmental situation in Haiti.

Haiti is a country threatened by deforestation, desertification, and soil erosion. Since the 1980s, figures have indicated that the forest coverage in Haiti is around 2% to 1%. The country is also located in a geographical zone that makes it vulnerable to climate change. As a small island developing state with all its governance and poverty problems, Haiti is acutely impacted by the phenomenon, particularly in the agricultural sector, as described by the author in the introduction to his work.
