As much as the economic indicators are in the red, the Henry administration presents an image of a thriving sector. Without pressure, the government announced on Tuesday a reduction in fuel prices at the pump. Some may argue that a mere 10 gourdes is insignificant, but when calculating the fuel consumption for the entire country in a month, a significant sum emerges, which the state could use to address pending issues.
On the eve of his second anniversary in office, Ariel Henry seemed to have wanted to gift the population by lowering fuel prices. However, the gesture seems to have missed its intended effect. Trade unionists cry foul and demand a more substantial reduction in the prices of petroleum products on the local market. They refer to the decrease in global prices and the significant pump price hike last year.
