Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who participated in the 78th United Nations General Assembly, held discussions on the security situation in Haiti, characterized by the dominance of gangs expanding their territory every day. "There was a meeting organized by the State Department where 40 countries, including those understanding the situation in Haiti, decided to contribute to restoring peace in the country. Many things were discussed. To achieve this, the United Nations Security Council would need to pass a resolution. We hope that next week, the United Nations Security Council will address the security issue so that concrete ideas can emerge regarding solutions to the insecurity phenomenon," said the Haitian prime minister, clarifying the government's request to the international community for assistance.
"Some people do not understand the difference between military intervention and support for the police. I am not asking for anyone to intervene on behalf of the Haitian police. We have requested assistance for the HNP to provide it with the capacity and experience it needs to continue working. The current situation goes beyond the police, which lacks adequate training to overcome the problem," stated the President of the High Council of the National Police (CSPN).
