No more hesitation! The Marion dam no longer has the purpose of generating electricity and providing drinking water. The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation, and Communications (MTPTC), through Electricity of Haiti (EDH) and the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), is still not involved in the operation of this infrastructure. Everything indicates that the projects for drinking water and electricity from this dam are a thing of the past. Only the Ministry of Agriculture is operating the dam, which, of course, brings joy to downstream farmers.

According to the Northeast Departmental Director of Agriculture, Sylvain Sama, the dam continues to play its role. In addition to preventing flooding in areas downstream, Marion contributes, he says, to the irrigation of 2,900 hectares of land. The areas of Coicou I, Coicou II, Coicou III, Chalopin, and some plots of Acul Samedi regularly receive water retained by the dam. The producers have no reason to complain. The water is released according to a specific schedule.
