Commissioned by the IFC, the study analyzed the demand for self-generated solar energy, the supply of solar panels and equipment, the Haitian market, and the main challenges that businesses face in transitioning to solar energy. Despite various obstacles, Haitian businesses show a favorable attitude toward adopting solar energy. The study's conclusions reveal that 90% of the surveyed companies are willing to make the transition, considering solar energy as a more cost-effective option compared to diesel-powered generators.

Beyond identifying obstacles, stakeholders emphasized the need to explore different financing sources to facilitate widespread adoption of solar energy throughout the country. Ismaël Fanny, Investment Officer at the IFC, highlighted financing as a primary constraint to adoption, emphasizing that addressing financing issues would significantly contribute to resolving the problem.
