A long list of investigating magistrates appointed in January 2021 is seeing the end of their term. On this list are six magistrates at the Port-au-Prince first-instance court, confirmed by the president of the Professional Magistrates Association (APM), Marthel Jean Claude. He too, as an investigating judge, sees his term coming to an end after being designated last December to conduct an inquiry into the scholarship case offered by the Russian Federation to Haiti.
Magistrate Berge O. Surpris is on the list. Magistrate Al Duniel Dimanche, in charge of the embezzlement case at the National Equipment Center (CNE) and who sent former deputy Cholzer Chancy to detention, is also at the end of his term as an investigating judge. Investigating Judge Walter Wesser Voltaire, whose ruling on the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse is highly anticipated, will no longer hold the position of investigating judge starting from midnight this Monday.
