The nation has shifted into a state of popular mobilization against the government led by Ariel Henry as February 7th approaches. While the concept of "revolution" advocated by former rebel Guy Philippe echoes incessantly, the Port-au-Prince Prosecutor's Office has taken a strict stance with a press release issued on February 5th, prohibiting the carrying of firearms and any other weapons during gatherings in public spaces.
"Starting from February 5th, any citizen found with a weapon in public during gatherings will be pursued by the police and brought before the courts for a fair trial. The same applies to those who resort to violence by deliberately attacking lives and property," warned the Port-au-Prince Prosecutor's Office.
