The OAS Permanent Council held its ordinary session on Wednesday, during which Haiti's situation was placed on the agenda. Another significant point during this special session was the acceptance of the Republic of Kenya as a permanent observer of the OAS. Its request was approved on Wednesday, June 5. This decision will enable the OAS to collaborate with Kenya in the deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission following Resolution 1237 adopted on November 17, 2023.
The continued efforts towards the immediate restoration of security, strengthening of humanitarian aid, and support for the protection of human rights and democracy in Haiti will be examined during the 54th regular session of the General Assembly, to be held in Paraguay from June 26 to June 28.
