Familiar with the territory, the new Minister of Agriculture, Vernet Joseph, emphasized the need to get to work promptly. In his speech, he outlined the government's priorities for agriculture, which include revitalizing unused agricultural zones, expanding support programs for farmers to enhance upcoming agricultural campaigns, restoring dysfunctional hydro-agricultural systems, improving fishing efforts to reduce food imports, and supporting agricultural production and processing enterprises. These priorities underscore the government's current focus in the agricultural sector.
Additionally, Minister Vernet Joseph communicated his major intervention strategies at the helm of MARNDR. "The government's three main areas of focus are agricultural infrastructure and watershed management, water control and valorization in plains and mountains, and the promotion of climate-smart production systems in response to climate change," he stated. The Minister of MARNDR expressed optimism about achieving conclusive results through the involvement of all stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
