During a press conference this Thursday, Pierre Espérance, executive director of RNDDH, advocated for "zero tolerance" towards armed gangs nationwide. "Their place should be in prison or the cemetery. These are terrorists who have inflicted more than enough suffering on the population. We do not agree with negotiations with them," reacted the human rights defender while briefing the press on the contents of an open letter to Prime Minister Garry Conille. Among the key points of the letter was the issue of amnesty for gangs.

"The country is beyond the stage of leniency towards armed bandits. After years of suffering, blame cannot be shifted onto the armed bandits who themselves caused this suffering. There is no way the accountability of the intellectual and material authors of the crimes committed can be disregarded," warned the signatories of the open letter delivered to Prime Minister Conille, who had called on armed bandits to disarm if they wished to engage in dialogue.
