On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Advisors Smith Augustin, Gérald Gilles, and Emmanuel Vertilaire were questioned as part of the "bribery solicitation" investigation initiated by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) following accusations made by the former president of the Board of Directors of the National Credit Bank (BNC).
"I confirm that today, the three advisors involved in the bribery solicitation case were questioned. This is the initial charge, but it may evolve. Other offenses such as abuse of office, active corruption, and influence peddling could emerge," stated a source close to the ULCC when interviewed by Le Nouvelliste late in the afternoon.
