The Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH), supported by the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM), have been conducting operations for the past week in the Bel-Air and Solino areas. According to a report released by the PNH on Monday, several gang members have been killed, and numerous weapons have been seized. Although this report provides limited insight into the full extent of losses on the gang side, it clearly indicates one thing: the security forces are now on the offensive.
This marks a significant shift from the situation in late February, March, and April 2024, which saw the assassination of more than a dozen police officers, attacks on police stations, and assaults on the Port-au-Prince and Croix-des-Bouquets civil prisons that resulted in the escape of at least three thousand inmates, including dangerous criminals.
