On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, France Football published the list of 30 nominees for this year’s Women's Ballon d'Or. While many global football stars made the cut, there has been discontent in Haiti over the omission of Haitian international Melchie Daelle Dumornay. After a remarkable season that included a domestic league title and reaching the Champions League final, Dumornay seemed to have strong credentials to be among the candidates.

The release of the 2024 Women's Ballon d'Or nominees has been the hot topic this week since France Football, which has awarded the prize since 2018, announced the shortlist. The list features a heavy presence of players from FC Barcelona, the winners of the last Champions League. Olympique Lyonnais (OL) is also well-represented, including Norwegian striker Ada Hegerberg, the inaugural Women's Ballon d'Or winner in 2018.
