"The State University of Haiti, represented by Rector Fritz Deshommes, and the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium, represented by its mission head, Benoit Vasseur, signed the memorandum on Monday, September 23, 2024. The signing ceremony took place at the UEH rectorate in the presence of Dr. Marie Eveline Moïse, a member of the rector’s cabinet; Dr. Jude Milcé, executive director of the University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH); and Dr. Marc-Félix Civil, vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy (FMP)," announced the rectorate in a statement published across various platforms of the institution.
"The two parties decided to formalize this memorandum to establish a collaborative framework for hosting UEH students enrolled in the hospital residency programs within MSF Belgium’s health facilities or those supported by MSF: the Turgeau Emergency Center, Carrefour CT, and SONUC Health Center with beds in Port-à-Piment (hereinafter referred to as 'the Project'). Additionally, the memorandum aims to clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each party concerning the internships for residents in general surgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, and anesthesia (3rd or 4th year) at FMP-UEH in MSF’s medical programs,” the rectorate's announcement continued.
