After discussions with several directors within the General Tax Directorate (DGI)—excluding Director General Emmanuel Casséus—on Thursday, October 10, striking employees decided to temporarily suspend the strike that has paralyzed the tax agency since September 23. They announced a truce, with services set to resume at all DGI offices starting Monday, August 14, 2024.

“This truce is set to last until December 31, 2024, pending the signing of an agreement that outlines the terms of this truce. If, by that deadline, promises regarding quarterly bonuses and increased funds on the debit card are not met, we will formally notify the directors who have committed to these terms, reminding them of their obligations and announcing the resumption of the strike,” stated the committee of striking employees in a note written in Creole.
