What was announced as a truce last week and observed on Monday at the DGI turned out to be short-lived. The resumption of services in various DGI offices lasted only a moment. According to a DGI employee, all services were initially up and running in DGI offices. However, things took a sudden turn when an unexpected guest, Director General Jean Emmanuel Casséus, appeared at the central office around 11 a.m.
The truce, which had recently been announced by the strike committee, was hanging by a thread. The employees had set conditions to maintain it. "The strike committee reiterates its firm decision to keep Director General Jean Emmanuel Casséus, a major irritant, out of the office until a decree appointing a new director general is published. Any attempt by Jean Emmanuel Casséus to enter the DGI premises in his capacity as director general will be seen as a provocation likely to endanger the truce," read a notice published by the committee the day before.
