The future of the three members of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) indicted in the National Credit Bank (BNC) corruption scandal remains uncertain. Haitian actors and members of the international community have publicly and privately indicated that these individuals represent a burden that the rest of the council must shed in order to reduce the likelihood that the transition will fail. Indeed, the CPT as a whole is often associated with this scandal. "These advisors are a thorn that will need to be removed from the council's side," conceded a source interviewed by Le Nouvelliste on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

While there is an understanding of the risk they pose to the Council and the transition, resolving the issue is not so simple. "They must voluntarily step back from making decisions within the CPT, relinquishing their privileges while awaiting a judicial decision," stated a source close to the Council. The removal of the three CPT members comes up in "conversations and comments," but there have been no "explicit orders," assured another source.
